Please join Stony Brook University and Samson Thursday May 5th at 7pm for an Online Open House featuring award winning storyteller and podcaster Shannon Cason. Shannon will talk about how he got into podcasting and how to consider your unique purpose in podcasting. Attendees will also learn about Stony Brook University's eight-month intensive Audio Podcast Fellowship program, and one of Samson's product specialists will discuss how to the select a microphone for your workspace as well as microphone techniques for podcasting.

Shannon Cason has been sharing his stories and storytelling techniques throughout the country professionally for over ten years. He is a regular on WNYC¡¯s Snap Judgment ; awarded their Best Performance feature in 2013. At The Moth storytelling organization his titles and work include Host, MainStage storyteller, and GrandSlam Champion, as well as traveling with the organization as an Educational Instructor.

He appears on countless podcasts and storytelling stages. He has been featured on TEDx, Snap Judgment, RISK!, and continues his own podcasts, Homemade Stories and The Trouble, which partnered with public radio station WBEZ Chicago (This American Life & Serial) from 2014-2018. Shannon is currently working on a new podcast, In Good Co. Detroit , in partnership with the New Economy Initiative and Knight Foundation.

He is a 2015 participant in President Obama¡¯s ¡°My Brother¡¯s Keeper¡± initiative and a 2016 winner of Knight Foundation Arts Challenge Grant.

Shannon has done storytelling and podcasting consulting for Lagunitas Brewing Company, Spotify, The Moth, Facing History and Ourselves, Skillman Foundation, Uninterrupted, and many others. He has been a keynote at the Podcast Movement conferences from 2017-2020.
